However, during the manufacturing process, there may be some defects in the mold, or some defects may gradually appear during the maintenance process, such as microcracks, slight wear, deformation, etc. In this case, despite potential hazards, the mold can still work. This defective condition without losing its ability to use is called mold damage.
The damage of the wire drawing die due to some reason or the accumulated damage to the die to a certain extent, resulting in the die being damaged and unable to continue service, is referred to as die failure. During production, if the main working parts of the mold are damaged and cannot continue to press qualified workpiece, the mold is considered to be invalid. The failure forms of stamping dies are generally plastic deformation, wear, fracture or cracking, metal fatigue, corrosion, and so on.

The faults of wire drawing dies can be roughly divided into two types according to the time of occurrence: normal faults and early faults.
After mass production and use, wire drawing molds will naturally wear due to friction, or slowly produce plastic deformation and fatigue cracks. Failure to achieve normal service life is a normal phenomenon and a normal fault. If the mold does not meet the specified time limit, it can lead to early damage, such as cracking, chipping, and breakage. Or, due to severe local wear and plastic deformation, it is impossible to continue maintenance, which is an early failure. For early failures of molds, the cause must be found and remedial measures taken.
